Wine Tasting: Lagrania Tempranillo
Name: Lagrania Tempranillo Variety: Tempranillo ABV: 13.5% Region: Spain Year: 2020 Price: $4.99 Winery Magazine Review: Cranberries and cherry. Vanilla and leather. Dry to off dry. Medium tannins and acidity, medium to full bodied. Probably good chilled and straight or with poultry. Not sure if it is bold enough for tomatoes or beef. Wine Folly descriptions (pg. 175): Spain's top variety, made famous by the wines of Rioja, where wines are classified by how long they age in oak. Fine Tempranillo ages 20+ years but costs a little. Bolder, aged Tempranillo wines pair nicely with steak, gourmet burgers, and rack of lamb. Personal Review: Strong scents of cherries and oak. However, I felt like after initial sniffs there was not much there after. The taste of this was dry and medium bodied. Smooth and easy to drink. However, I was expecting more and was disappointed.
